It’s so easy to forget how to engage and live life to the fullest. We get caught up with our daily demands, routines and responsibilities, and we forget how to enjoy this amazing gift we’ve been given called life.

 

Of course we have responsibilities, we always will, but let’s look deeper into what we might actually be passionate about doing and how we can start doing it!

 

Three things come to mind to make this happen; list making, goal setting and planning. Here are four steps to help you begin today!

 

Step One – Make a bucket list. Don’t hold back. Write down everything you want to do and everywhere you want to go before your life is complete. Nothing is too trivial or too ridiculous for this exercise.

 

Step Two – Divide your list into three separate “To Do” categories including short-term, foreseeable future and long-range goals. Examples could include enjoying a cup of coffee while watching the sunrise, swimming with dolphins or planning a vacation to somewhere you’ve always dreamed to go. You can always research ideas on the internet if you’re at a loss, it’s amazing how many suggestions are out there.

 

Step Three – Start setting goals for when you wish to accomplish your “To Do” lists. Assign a month and year to strive for completion for each item in all three categories.

 

Step Four – Begin planning. Sit down with your calendar, and a long-range planner and start writing down your goals. Make notes about what is needed to make your goals happen, such as applying for a passport, or saving money, or recruiting someone to adventure with you. Just begin. Benjamin Franklin was said to have coined the phrase “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. So why should your bucket list, your dreams, your goals be set on the back burner of your reality?

 

This is your life. It will be what you make out of it. So make your lists, set your goals and plan away for the fulfilled life you deserve!
